Tip #2: Bring your comics friends close

We all get stuck sometimes, bored with our own patterns of drawing or writing, and it’s totally fair to expect that. We won’t be feeling our hottest inspiration 100% of the time. It’s okay!

In preparation for those moments, we recommend keeping a couple of your favourite comics close by.

When you start to feel stuck about panel transitions, go read a story you love and keep your eye out for panels that really grab you, story moments that you think are brilliant. You can steal from (aka be inspired by) your favourite comics works. That’s your favourite artist lifting you up!

You’re still telling your story, your way, with help.

And if you can find a way to nod and thank those creators in your work, or in the indicia, then by all means do. Giving thanks is one way to acknowledge our creative lineage. We all have one, after all.

See you tomorrow,

Georgia & Sam
